19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from March of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an better service.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional victory, took control to create a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial chances in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
