Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the final moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
